October 2014-Harvest Parade/Carving Pumpkins/Riley's Bday Party

October 2014

Who can believe October is here and gone.....bring on the cold weather and snow!

October 9th
Today was the Harvest Parade at Donovan's school, unfortunately this year we didn't get to go. Great grandma and grandpa attended for us. The kids get to walk around the block with their costumes on, while the middle school marching band leads them down the street. MPD usually blocks off all the roads so no traffic can go through, then the parents can walk along with the kids and their classmates.
This year Donovan went as ghost rider, he was to nervous to wear his mask in school so the only picture I have of him from that day, his mask is off.

October 12th
Today we carved pumpkins as a family, I went and got 3 big ones. I love carving pumpkins, especially for the pumpkin seeds. This year I found a new recipe, they ended up tasting sooo good!! Donovan only stays interested for a short time when carving pumpkins....I had to finish it.

October 17th
Today we had a birthday party for cousin Riley who is turning 6! The party was at Swan's Pumpkin Farm in Franksville. The whole way out there it just rained, it continued to rain for about an hour after we got there. We went into the haunted maze, rode on the mini tractors and went in the haunted house. The kids at lunch and cake, then it was time to go. They each got to take a pumpkin home with them!

Coming back to blogging....my goal!

It's been awhile since I wrote a real blog post, something other than stuff for Bzz Campaigns. There is so much going on right now.....not sure I know where to start. For me blogging is my journal....there will be things that shouldn't be said...but really who's listening.

It's almost midnight on a Thursday, well turning into Friday and here I sit, wide away, sitting at my computer....which is my second home. So I've been really trying to get serious about my photography career, well what I hope to one day be a career. Looked into taking some specialty classes for certain types of shooting, I got my studio portrait lights, which I'm still attempting to figure out. I never really pictured myself shooting indoor shots all that often....there's something about being outside that I just LOVE! Lets see what else....been reading books on how to start a business, marketing strategies, pricing.....there's alot of shit that goes into getting started. I'm taking my sweet time, I look at it this way, the more time I take the more practice shooting on friends and family I can get in. I mean the best critics are friends and family....at least mine are. Brutally honest=the only way to be!! My main stump I'm trying to clear is my name.....what do I want as my brand, my logo, my identity. Most go with their name with photography at the end.......Samantha Jo Duerr Photography (sounds blah).....Samantha J. D Photography.......or I could go with something that is more personal to me.......2333 Photography.....or something having to do with my unkie Mike.....Miss you big guy, everyday!!!

I did a photo shoot for two of my favorite people, their engagement pics a couple weeks ago....first time shooting in the snow. Freaked me out the week leading up to....I'm talking I had piles of notes, a shit ton of flash cards that were meant to help me while in the field in case I had questions. I didn't even use them and I just winged it....the pics turned out great, some things looking back that I wish I did differently BUT every shoot I do is more experience and more practice....go learn somehow right!

Anyways enough ranting....we have been so busy lately....we went to the circus 2 weekends ago. That was so much fun, I love the circus, always puts a smile on my face and makes me feel like a little kid again. Now that I have a son....I understand why my parents didn't take me....bc they want everything they see!! Luckily for Dono though, I give in a get it for him!!

The next day we got most of the family together on the Duerr side, went bowling and all went back to grandma's for apps and dinner......and good convos of course. It's always a treat when we are all together.....most of us anyways. Of course there's always going to be that one person missing :( BUT he's there in spirit!

Our next big adventure out was this past weekend, Erik's boss gave us Bucks tickets. We only saw like half of the game, ended up leaving before everyone else did. Good thing they had everyone parked in.......headache! Dono had a blast....I think that's only his 2nd Bucks game.

And to end this post for tonight, I'll add my mom's new foster pup Angel, who has totally been adopted. She literally is exactly like her name, he's a cuddler and a lover!!!

Journaling during Dad's accident

So when we went through everything with my dad during his accident, I started journaling things that happened everyday so that when he got better he could see what he had to go through and see just how bad and serious his accident was.

This journal is written by me for my dad, I'm just copying what I had written back then.

Sunday, September 12th 2010

Sunday morning around 9a.m. Dad got in a motorcycle accident, was taken to Froedert hospital, diagnosed with a subdural hematoma, ribs on the left side numbers 5-11, the right side number 6, the clavical and some bones in the nose where all broken. They removed the left flap of the skull bone to reduce the swelling, he was in a neck brace, had a breathing tube and was in the SICU. We finally got to see you after you're surgery, we got in the room about 4:30ish I believe. You couldn't open your eyes, there was no movement at all from you, your eyes were swollen, you had the breathing tube in your mouth.

People who came to the visiti room and to see you that day were:
Me-Grandma-Randy-April-Austin-Austin's girlfriend-Brian-Kim and his wife-Ryan-Heidi-Mike-Brian-Debbie-Niki=Jimmy-Terri-Dubbie-Michelle and her friend-Trudy-Gary.

Grandma and I were the first ones who were allowed in the room to come and see you, after that I went home to grab clothes-I planned on staying with you over night but opted to stay at home instead to try and get some sleep.

Monday, September 13th, 2010

I got to the hospital around 9:30 that day, went up and saw you right away. You could move your hand slightly, your eyes and hands were relly puffy. The pressure in your brain went up slightly but they couldn't tell us why. As of 7:30 p.m. they took out your breathing tube and the pressure tube that was placed inside your head, they were weaning you off the sedation medication but you were still getting pain meds.

Tuesday September 14th, 2010

Today your left eye was really swollen and your hands were swollen as well. You started talking, mainly yelling all you would say is God damnit and Fuck you nonstop in a super angry voice. As well as Hi and lots of grunting, you were trying to talk but nothing was coming out, you could tell you were getting frustrated then you would shout.
People that were there that night were:
Me-Grandma-Randy-Trudy-Mike-Brian-Debbie-Marisa-Michelle-Austin-April

Wednesday September 15th, 2010

Today your bruising really started to show on your neck, legs, thighs, really all over the place. We had a sit down with a Dr. and your social worker, they didn't really tell us much, in fact we thought alot more bones were broken, they weren't even sure what really was. You were still swearing and not much of a change just lots of Hi's and Bye's.

People that came to see you were:
Me-Mike-Trudy-Heidi-Grandma-Candi-Bonnie-Megan-Joe and Marisa

Thursday September 16th, 2010

Today you're room changed, you got moved to a different floor, up to floor 5. You pulled your feeding tube out prior to them moving you, they didn't give you enough pain meds during room change. We didn't know that at the time, you were throwing yourself around the bed trying to get out of the restraints they put you in. You kept trying to slam your body and your head around on your bed, it was a horrible and scary night for sure. I kept thinking you were saying, what's my name, but after thinking about it for awhile you were saying, I'm in pain. I finally got to talk to a Dr and we convinced him to give you more meds, then you settled down a bit. Over night you had a hard time breathing so they put you back in the SICU so respitory could give you your treatments to get the shit out of your throat.

Friday September 17th, 2010

Today you were transfered from the SICU to the 2nd floor, north west tower room 16, the nurses here are great!! They have you directly across from the nurses station, they also put your feeding tube back in so you could eat. You were saying, HI and BYE and HEY. You always messed up your sheets, like they were everywhere. The nurses would fix them and you would screw them up immediately, you are getting used to the restraints, today they put huge mittens on your hands so you couldn't pull at any cords. Today grandma, aunt Bonnie, Austin, April, Brian, Heidi, Michelle and I all came to visit. Donna came to see you, but she wasn't able to because Michelle had a hissy fit.

Saturday September 18th, 2010

Today you were in a good mood, I got you to start singing and smiling, also you would pucker up for kisses.  You were constantly checking out the nurses and people outside the door, walking past.  You got more respitory treatments, I left around 6 and came back around 9 with Kelly. She was dying to see you, she missed her friend. You were funny, we stayed about an hour and then left so you could sleep, we stayed in the parking lot talking till past midnight. Grandma, me, Bonnie, Terri, Dubbe, Richie, Erik the geek, Kelly, Trudy and Michelle all came to visit.

Sunday September 19th, 2010

That was the last time I even looked at this ridiculous post......finally 2 years later I threw out all the paperwork, journals and bullshit I had been hanging onto just incase. I finally feel like I've washed my hands clean on my father......so I'm finally posting this, getting it out of my way, that way I can move on and so can he.

My Bzz Report! BTW We LOVE this product!!
December 2, 2012 by futuremrswiske
When I received my package, I opened it with my fiance! Luckily for him, he had such a stuffy nose, so he was just in luck when I opened to find the bottle of Afrin! He was previously using Afrin but a different bottle than the one I got in the mail. He swears by this brand! But he didn't like the jetspray the other bottle had. I gave him the new bottle of nasal spray I had opened, he used it, LOVED it, and within a couple minutes his nose congestion was cleared. This is now a permenant item being stocked in our house!
